The wonderful aromatic scent of lavender has become more and more popular over the last few decades, until in 1999 was declared the “year of lavender”, in recognition of it becoming the most popular aromatic herb. Lavender is referred to as an “adaptogen”, which means that it has the ability to restore balance and begin healing in any body system that is out of balance. Thus, lavender is used to treat such a wide variety of ailments, that there are almost too many to list! Relaxation and Tension Problems Lavender induces relaxation and relieves tension It is calming, soothing and emotionally balancing, so it is used to treat the following problems: -Insomnia, exhaustion, and restlessness
Insect Repellant Lavender is also a natural insect repellant. It is effective in repelling: -Moths, fleas, and mosquitoes
Skin irritations Lavender has long been used to treat a wide variety of skin irritations and problems, including the following: -Minor burns, bruises, and wounds

Generally safe for people of all ages. Lavender has been used for centuries and is considered safe for use of infants and the elderly and everyone in between.* It is very uncommon to have a lavender allergy, although those with hay fever or asthma should exercise caution. Also if you are heating the lavender (heating pads, using in baths, or aromatherapy), please consult your health care provider first if you are pregnant or taking medication.
