When my daughter was born, I sat, holding the new, tiny being in my arms, wanting to give my child everything good in the world. As days past, I found myself more and more aware of chemicals in so many household products – air fresheners, laundry detergents, dryer sheets, and even our foods.

I have always had an interest in aromatherapy and natural products, and the more I researched different natural methods, the more interested I became in the effects of lavender. My books all seemed to say that lavender was the panacea of herbs. It was used to cure, patch, and heal nearly everything. Almost no one was allergic to it, and most importantly of all, it was a safe alternative for my baby.

I started creating lavender pouches for use in the dryer, since that had been my original goal, but while taking one over to a friend’s place, I noticed how wonderful my car smelt when I got back into it. I started using them in place of air fresheners, to help relax me into a wonderful sleep after a long day of trying to keep my baby happy, fed, and cleaned, and once the laundry sachets began to lose their scent, I threw it in my bath to soothe my aching muscles.

When I realized how many other parents were looking for safe alternatives to the chemicals surrounding us in the stores, I realized that I should share my findings with those around me. I hope you will enjoy the “panacea of herbs” as much as I did as you indulge in the scent of lavender.

Lavender Breeze is a K is for Kej product. Our company, “K is for Kej” is inspired by my turtle, Kej, who lives in our living room. I knit a turtle for my little girl, and before I knew it, I was knitting turtles for all of my friends and family who were having babies. Since everything I have tried to do is in sync with nature, and safe for little ones, along the lines of the children’s “A is for Apple” books, I now have “K is for Kej”.
